Yes. If the accident wasn't your fault and your case is accepted, we can help arrange a like-for-like replacement car through a vehicle-hire company while yours is off the road, subject to availability. The hire company will be your main contact, explain the hire agreement and keep you updated. If fault is disputed or hire charges cannot be recovered, you may have to pay those charges under the agreement.
Yes. You should notify your insurer about the accident, even if you use Claimsline and do not claim through your own policy. Reporting the accident and asking your insurer to handle the claim are separate steps.
Replacement-car hire charges may become your responsibility under the agreement if you are found to be at fault, liability is disputed or costs cannot be recovered. The hire company will explain the charges and when you could have to pay before you agree.
An eligible non-fault claim is handled against the at-fault party's insurer rather than your own policy. This can help avoid an excess payment and protect your no-claims bonus, subject to your policy and the accident circumstances. You still need to notify your insurer, who decides whether the accident affects your renewal premium.
We can help arrange a like-for-like replacement car, subject to availability. This means a similar type and standard of vehicle, taking account of features such as size and transmission; it does not guarantee the identical make, model or specification. Tell us about any essential requirements so the hire company can check the right car for you.
The hire company will confirm how long you can keep the car while yours is being assessed or repaired. If your car is written off, ask the hire company to confirm the return date: the hire does not continue indefinitely. Contact the hire company before keeping the car beyond the agreed period so any extension can be authorised.
It may be. Credit hire lets an eligible non-fault customer use a replacement vehicle without paying the hire charges upfront. The hire company seeks to recover those charges from the at-fault party's insurer. You sign a credit agreement and may have to pay if liability is disputed or costs cannot be recovered.
